Hire an AI Product Manager

Bring in AI product leadership without forcing the role into one employment model. I work on contract, fractional and advisory engagements across product strategy, AI MVP delivery, evaluation and roadmap ownership.

  • Contract or fractional cadence
  • AI-first product work

WHAT YOU GET

What you get when you hire an AI product manager

The role sits between customer problem, commercial goal and AI capability. I work as an AI product manager when a team needs ongoing ownership, and as an AI product consultant when the need is shorter and more diagnostic.

If you're pre-product, the work can connect into AI app development. If you already have a product and team, it can sit closer to a fractional CPO engagement: fewer priorities, clearer evidence and a roadmap tied to outcomes.

My background combines founder experience with SaaS, marketplace and customer operations. That means the product conversation includes adoption, pricing, failure modes, operating constraints and what happens after launch, not only the feature specification.

ENGAGEMENT TYPES

Three ways to work with me

Contract

3-12 month full-time contracts embedded in your team as an AI Product Manager. Discovery to launch.

Fractional

1-2 days per week on a monthly retainer. Product strategy, AI MVP delivery and roadmap ownership.

Advisory

Monthly advisory for founders and product leaders: roadmap review, hiring, model choice and evals.

FIRST WEEK

Week one deliverables

  • A product audit: what's built, what's used and what's not
  • An opportunity map: where the effort-to-impact ratio is strongest
  • An evaluation plan for AI features, so 'good' is defined before launch
  • A prioritised backlog tied to the commercial goal rather than a wish list
  • A one-page strategy document your team can use to make decisions

TO MOVE FAST

What I need from you

  • Access to real customers or users, not just internal opinions
  • A decision-maker in the room, or fast access to one
  • Access to your analytics, however rough
  • A clear commercial goal for the engagement
  • A willingness to ship on a regular cadence rather than wait for perfect

CREDIBILITY

Products I've built and led

Wocal

Founded Wocal and served as Founder & Chief Product Officer from 2020 to 2025. The site records growth to 300+ venues and a reported £2.7M pre-money valuation, giving me operating experience beyond a single feature or short project.

Co-Ride

Founder & CPO of Co-Ride, a community carpooling platform at pre-seed stage. The work covers problem definition, marketplace scope, trust, employer pilots and the first repeatable product journey.

CallFlow AI

Product work on CallFlow AI, an AI receptionist for appointment-led businesses. It makes AI product decisions concrete: qualification accuracy, escalation, voice latency, model cost and the limits of safe autonomy.

HOW ENGAGEMENTS WORK

From intro call to shipping

01

Discovery call

30 minutes. What you're building, where the friction is, what a good outcome looks like.

02

Scoped pilot

A short, defined engagement with a clear output, usually a product audit, validation plan, roadmap or MVP scope.

03

Ongoing cadence

Continue on contract, fractional retainer or advisory, whichever fits your stage.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you start?
Availability depends on current engagements. The first step is a discovery call so I can confirm scope, timing and whether contract, fractional or advisory support is the right fit.
Contract or fractional, which do I need?
If you have a specific product to build and no in-house product lead, contract usually fits better. If you already have momentum and need senior ownership a couple of days a week, fractional is usually a better fit. We can work this out from the stage and decision load.
Do you work with non-technical founders?
Yes. I work with founders who are strong on the commercial or domain side and need product leadership to turn that knowledge into a testable, shippable product and a clear roadmap.
Do you write code, and which AI tools do you use?
I am hands-on enough to scope, prototype and evaluate AI features properly, including model choice and evals, but the engagement is product leadership rather than selling developer hours. The AI Product Manager and AI App Development pages explain the two delivery modes in more detail.
IR35 and UK contracting, are you set up for this?
The contract structure depends on the engagement and the client's assessment. Any IR35 status and commercial terms should be confirmed for the specific contract rather than assumed from a website page.
Remote or on-site?
UK-based in South Shields, and I work remotely. Occasional on-site days can be discussed for UK-based teams where they add value.
What happens after the engagement ends?
The working artefacts remain with your team: roadmap, product decisions, evaluation approach, documentation and agreed next steps. Some engagements then move to a lighter advisory cadence.
